Home Away From Home.
Westport was once known as the "Salmon Capital of the World" with
nearly 300 charter boats leaving the harbor every day. In the
60's and
70's, from 5 to 10 thousand visitors a day came throughout the summer
to catch the "big fish"!
Perfect summer weather, a
thriving surf community, and the growing number of amenities that
the town has to offer are turning Westport into a destination
resort town. Visitors can participate in outdoor activities
like biking, rollerblading, surfing, deep sea fishing and soon,
golfing when Westport opens its Links style, 18 hole, championship
golf resort! If sightseeing and attractions are more your
taste, Westport is home to the state's tallest lighthouse, has a
maritime museum, and a paved walking and bike trail that runs parallel
to the beach as well as 18 miles of pristine sandy beaches.
Westport has what it takes to
be your "Home Away From Home"!
